Jefferson Parish Schools Show Steady Growth in 2024-25 LEAP Assessment Scores
Dear JP Schools Families,
Today, the Louisiana Department of Education released the 2024–2025 LEAP assessment results for school systems across the state. We’re proud to share that Jefferson Parish Schools demonstrated steady academic growth this year, thanks to the hard work of our students, the commitment of our educators, and the partnership of families like yours. Thank you for all you do to support your child’s learning and growth.
Jefferson Parish Schools saw overall academic growth in the 2024–2025 LEAP results, with a 1% increase in the percentage of students scoring Mastery and above across grades 3–12. Jefferson Parish was one of only 25 school systems, out of 69 statewide, to show growth in the percentage of students achieving at the Mastery level or higher.
More than 60% of our 74 schools either improved or maintained their Mastery+ scores from last year. Fourteen schools saw gains of more than four percentage points, including:
- 8% growth: Allen Ellender School, Judge Lionel Collins Elementary School
- 7% growth: Bissonet Plaza Elementary, McDonogh 26 Elementary, Ella C. Pittman Elementary
- 6% growth: Phoebe Hearst Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Academy for Advanced Studies
- 5% growth: Green Park Elementary, Terrytown Elementary, G.T. Woods School, Ralph J. Bunche Elementary
- 4% growth: J.J. Audubon School, Marie B. Riviere Elementary, Cherbonnier/Rillieux Elementary
Other highlights from the 2024–2025 LEAP results include:
- A 2% increase in students scoring Mastery and above in both Math and Science in grades 3–12
- Stable performance in ELA across the district
- A 2% increase in Mastery rates for both economically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities
- Several of our schools ranked among Louisiana’s top performers, with more than 90% of their students scoring Mastery or above: Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies, Metairie Academy for Advanced Studies, Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy, Gretna No. 2 Academy for Advanced Studies, Airline Park Academy for Advanced Studies
These results reflect the dedication of our educators and the perseverance of our students. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and we remain focused on giving every child the opportunity to succeed.
Individual Student Results
If your child was enrolled in grades 3–12 during the 2024–2025 school year and participated in LEAP testing, you will receive their individual results directly from their school next week. These reports are a helpful tool for understanding your child’s academic progress and how to best support them moving forward. Should you have any questions about your child’s results, we encourage you to contact your child’s school.
Thank you again for being a valued part of the JP Schools family. Together, we’re moving our children forward.

Because principal leadership is key to student success, the National Association of Elementary School Principals recognizes accomplished elementary and middle-level principals from across the nation and abroad as a part of its annual National Distinguished Principal (NDP) program.
The 2025 class of NDPs will be honored during a two-day event in Washington, D.C. that culminates with an awards banquet on October 24.
Principal honorees are selected by NAESP state affiliates and by committees representing private and overseas schools. Criteria for selection of the principals require that the honorees are active principals of schools where programs are designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students and where there are firmly established community ties with parents and local business organizations.
Established in 1921, the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) leads in the advocacy and support for elementary and middle school principals in the United States and internationally. NAESP supports principals as the primary catalysts for creating lasting foundations for learning through policy and professional learning, advocacy, programs, and resources for effective instructional leadership. NAESP advances the profession on behalf of all principals, providing specialized support and mentoring for early career principals. Key focus areas include pre-K–3 education, school safety, technology and digital learning, and capacity-building educator evaluation.
